Whoops!

As I said in the very first video, ya'll are going to be learning with me, and this is no exception. I have done a tremendous job of getting projects started and finished on the homestead if I do say so myself (kidding... kind of), but this one just really didn't do it for me!
How It Started
When we moved onto our land back in July 2022, we noticed that were a few tires and old lumber sitting next to the machine shop. After looking into different projects, we might be able to do to utilize the tires, I decided on making chicken nesting boxes for the chickens we are getting this spring. I figured if they have more, they might be happier? I don't know? They already have plenty, so really, if they didn't use the tire nesting boxes, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
As I was pulling them away from the overgrown brush against the machine shop, I realized how bad of shape they really were in. They were misshapen, small tires that even had rotted parts where holes were forming. I figured if I could get just half a dozen more nesting boxes out of the several tires that were there, I'd be happy!
So, I got to work cutting apart the best of the tires. It seemed to be working well. It was cutting through the rubber like butter if the butter was the consistency of wood and the knife was a less than sharp hand saw. It really wasn't that easy honestly, but it was cutting.
How It Ended
After I made a sizable cut in the rubber, I realized I was getting absolutely nowhere in the tire anymore. Upon further inspection, I found wire within the tires. Who knew wire was inside tires? I sure didn't! Having zero patience left and not having the appropriate tools to actually make the cut on the tires, I decided the only reasonable thing to do was stop.
I originally had planned on using them for something else. I had no idea what, but after thinking about it longer and coming to the understanding that they really aren't going to be good for anything considering how rotten they are, I've decided we're just going to recycle them when we get around to it (soon, hopefully).
Sometimes, plans fall through on the homestead. Things may not (often times do not) go your way originally. Sometimes it works in our favor, and sometimes, like this one, it doesn't. All we can do is say, "oh, well!" and move on. Hopefully the next project will do much better!
